How to logout from whatsapp

I'm sure you've seen it: someone is showing you how to logout from WhatsApp, but they are holding the phone in landscape mode. They're holding down the menu button, but they don’t say what they are doing. The menu button is being pressed over and over. You see them tap on the profile button. Then they tap on the gear button. Wait, what are they doing? You see them tap on their name, then tap on the gear button again. You see them tap on the gear button a few more times. It’s crazy. But you’ve seen it before. You've probably even done it before. You tap on the gear button. You tap on your name. You tap on the gear button again. You see them tap on the gear button a few more times. Finally, you see them tap on the back button. Wait, the back button is in the top left corner! Why did they tap on the back button? Oh, they didn't. They tapped the home button. Then they tapped the back button. They accidentally brought up the home screen. What on earth are they doing? Have you ever experienced that?
